Screenwriting for Teens (9th - 12th grade) with Chris Messineo (In-Person) - 10 Weeks

Tuesdays, 10-week class (In-Person)
September 16 - November 18, 2025
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Do you love creative writing? Is your head full of stories trying to get out? Do you imagine movies and want to see them brought to life?
Screenwriting for Teens can teach you how to write a movie and have fun doing it.
All films begin with a writer, a story, and a screenplay. We start with stories - where they come from and how you can make them your own.
We tell stories in class, individually and working together. We look at what makes stories compelling and what stories make for good movies.
Next, we learn how to write scripts. Watching short films and scenes from famous movies, we see how screenplays are brought to life on the big screen. Each week, students write their own short scripts based on a challenge (e.g. a line of dialogue, a location, etc.) and share them with each other.
During the 10 weeks, you will have the opportunity to create 9 different short scripts and have them read in class.
Students are encouraged to bring a notebook or laptop to class.
