This exhibition highlights the power of art as a means of exploring social justice issues, inviting students to reflect on topics such as beauty standards, racism, gender identity, and civil rights. The selected artworks, spanning cross-cultural interpretations of beauty to powerful portrayals of the Civil Rights Movement, invite critical reflection on both historical and contemporary struggles.
Through photography, painting, and mixed media, these artists confront inequality, challenge societal norms, and spark conversations about creating a more just and inclusive world. As you explore these pieces, consider how art serves as both a catalyst for change and a mirror reflecting our ongoing fight for justice.
Ridge High School art students will address these themes using the format of a graphic novel page, while Annin Middle School art students will reimagine the statue of "Justice" as it might be represented in today’s world.
