March Concerts Inside the Farm House

Heather Mulvey plays finger-picking acoustic guitar and sings traditional Americana, Celtic, and contemporary folk songs, entertaining audiences of all ages. A history of the songs is incorporated into the programs and interaction and participation is always encouraged. Heather has performed at community events, cultural and heritage commissions, festivals, schools, First Nights and libraries throughout New Jersey and New York and has been a Featured Artist at the New Jersey Library Association Annual Meeting and at the Garden State Storytellers' League "Tellabration" event. Heather is delighted to return to Farmstead Arts with her Celtic Music Journey program.

Featuring Steven Silverstein (alto sax, clarinet) and Peter Griggs (guitar, vocals), Cafe Brazil Band performs popular Brazilian music, including bossa nova and choro, as well as original works by Griggs. Both are veteran musicians with extensive experience in jazz, world, and contemporary music.
Silverstein is a master clarinetist and wind instrument specialist, having performed with the Paul Winter Consort, Adolphe Sax Saxophone Quartet, and major orchestras worldwide. Griggs, an accomplished composer and guitarist, has presented over 600 solo concerts across the U.S. and Europe, with works recorded on Folkways Records, Music Of The World, and more.
While bossa nova is well known, choro—the most popular Brazilian style from 1900 to the 1930s—has recently seen a revival. Cafe Brazil Band showcases music by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Roberto “Baden Powell” de Aquino, Luiz Bonfá, Pixinguinha, and original compositions by Griggs.
